Cherbourg is situated at the Northern tip of the Cherbourg Peninsula and provides an excellent gateway for travel by road to and from the North and East of France, Paris, and onwards to Holland, Belgium and Germany.

PARKING:
Short term parking is available in front of the terminal building and is free of charge for short stays. There is no long stay parking available.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
RAIL:
Cherbourg's railway station is at the end of the line from Paris and regular services operate to and from Paris-Saint-Lazare via Caen.
Line 8 is the public bus service that operates between the port terminal and the railway station during July and August. Schedule details (in French) available here. On French Public Holidays and Sundays it will operate 1 hour after the Irish Ferries scheduled arrival time from the Terminal to the train station & 2 hours before departure time from the train station to the Terminal.
It also is possible to take a taxi (cost between €8 and €10), or you can walk to the railway station (about 30 minutes).
